Conciliation proceedings by the Labour Commissioner have ensured that 23 baggage trolley workers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport will finally receive gratuity within a fortnight.
“Both parties to the dispute were called for conciliation proceedings and after prolonged and deliberate discussions, the contractor agreed to pay gratuity to the trolley workers as per the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972. The union also agreed to this. Union and the contractor have agreed to settle the issues amicably and requested to close the matter.
