Everyone is talking about the Amazon Forest Fires, it’s been weeks, the conflagration has spread rapidly destroying large area of the most important ecosystem.
So, How important is the Amazon Forest and How are the fires going to affect us since the world is already facing the Climate Emergency?
Amazon Rainforests are frequently referred to as the lungs of the planet, and is a key component in carbon storage, biodiversity and reducing air pollution.
The Amazon rainforest filters and reprocesses harmful carbon dioxide - through its numerous trees and plants.
About the Forest Fires.
Fires are raging across the Amazon rainforest and are spreading dangerously, wildfires are wreaking havoc as the dry season begins in the region.
Amazonas, Rondonia, Para and Mato Grosso are the most affected areas. The clouds of smokes covered half of Brazil and smoke can even be seen from space. In some pictures you can also see the skies darkened over San Paulo, Brazil, for an hour Monday afternoon. Effects of damage to Amazon go far beyond Brazil and its neighbors. Cold front caused winds to shift and carry smoke from about 1,700 miles away. We cannot afford more damage to our main source of oxygen and bio diversity.
